About UsFrom 1999 to 2006 past, the European Commission (EC) funded a "cluster" of six research projects with the aim to contribute to policy and technology development on waste management and avoidance. The lead partners of the Waste Solutions European Urban Waste Management Cluster together set up the www.wastesolutions.org web centre with a range of online services that continue to be delivered beyond the end of the projects that initiated them.
Key goals of Waste Solutions:
- to maximise potential synergies between the cluster projects' research and development activities
- to intensify the dissemination of all the project results, and in particular to make known the clusters’ work and products to a targeted audience – local governments
- to provide further information on waste avoidance, as well as on innovative waste management and research
- To facilitate exchange between researchers and practitioners in the field
The main tool developed to achieve the above aims was www.wastesolutions.org, the web centre you are visiting right now!
Waste Solutions services:
- www.wastesolutions.org offers information
- www.wastesolutions.org offered you the opportunity to present your projects, links, publications and good practice. This service was available but is not anymore.
- The Waste Solutions Forum wastesolutions-net@iclei.org was a mailing list that enabled you to send and receive news and get involved in discussions. The service is currently suspended until further notice.
- The Waste Solutions Updates was an electronic news service that kept you posted on interesting developments. The service is currently suspended until further notice, pending new funding arrangements.
