Vicenza joins ICLEI to support sustainable urban planning ambitions

The northern Italian city of Vicenza has joined ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability. Situated in the Veneto region between Verona and Venice, the city of Vicenza wishes to connect, learn from, and exchange with other cities in Europe on creating a more sustainable future.

The city, which was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1994, has a particular emphasis on sustainable urban planning, and is looking forward to collaborating with a wide-range of partners as part of European projects.

Mr Antonio Marco Dalla Pozza, Town Councillor for Urban planning and Sustainability, said: "Vicenza is more and more involved in becoming a sustainable city, working towards an environmentally, socially, and economically healthy and resilient habitat for its citizens. By joining the ICLEI network we aim to actively engage with our peers, have access to the latest information and ideas that shape the sustainability landscape, and become well equipped to develop and implement integrated solutions that advance our sustainability goals.

“We have also decided to join ICLEI to enable our administration to create and design new European projects, which will allow us to implement our capacity building in developing Sustainable Urban Planning Policies."
