The GoNaturePositive! project is at the forefront of a pioneering, transdisciplinary, and collaborative effort aimed at accelerating the shift towards a nature-positive economy. It aims to do this by raising awareness and initiating transformative actions amongst key stakeholders, including policymakers, investors, businesses, and the wider society. The project brings together a consortium of 20 partners, composed of research institutions, non-profits, and environmental organisations, all leading the charge for the nature-positive agenda at both European and global levels.
At the heart of the project's aims are several key objectives:
- to define and articulate the concept of the Nature-Positive Economy (NPE);
- to devise a comprehensive roadmap that outlines policy and governance strategies conducive to a nature-positive future;
- to illustrate the wide-ranging benefits of nature-positive practices for humanity and the environment alike; and to engage the dedication of an Impact Board consisting of influential multiplier networks, all working collaboratively towards a shared, long-term vision of the nature-positive economy.
GoNaturePositive! utilises a dual-strategy approach that not only highlights the potential within nature-positive sectors but also establishes benchmarks for mainstream businesses to assess their nature-positive performance, encouraging them to implement strategic transition plans. The initiative’s pilot projects target key sectors such as Agri-Food, Forestry, the Blue Economy, Tourism, and the Built Environment.
By championing a unified vision, GoNaturePositive! aligns closely with global sustainability targets, addressing pressing environmental challenges head-on. The initiative underscores the societal and planetary benefits of adopting nature-friendly practices, thereby reducing business risks and attracting investors keen on nature conservation. A pivotal element of the project is fostering nature-positive leadership, ensuring a lasting commitment to the NPE vision. Through the integration of Nature-based Solutions (NbS), GoNaturePositive! is set to catalyse systemic change across various sectors. Its multi-stakeholder approach invites a rich diversity of perspectives, significantly enhancing the potential for innovative solutions.
